| Did you know that you are a spiritual
orphan? Did you know that God would like to adopt you
into His family?!
God’s Word, the Bible, tells us that “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) We have all done wrong and come far short of God’s standard of holy perfection. "There is none righteous, no not one." (Romans 3:10) The Bible goes on to tell us that “The wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23a) This simply means that there is a payment for our sin. The payment is physical and spiritual death – separation from God forever in a literal hell. In an attempt to appease our conscience and give us some hope of averting God’s impending judgment, mankind today tries everything from false religions, to church attendance, to baptism, to being a “good neighbor”. But all the good works a man can do will not gain him entrance into heaven. If this were so, then why did Jesus have to die on the cross? The problem that needs to be taken care of is sin. Because we are all natural born sinners, we are spiritual orphans in need of a spiritual adoption from our Heavenly Father! Thankfully, there is the Good News of the Gospel! The Bible tells us that “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) In spite of our sin, God loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ to be the perfect payment for our sin. Jesus was holy and without sin. When He shed His blood and died on the cross, He took your sin with Him! He was the perfect sacrifice for us! It should have been each of us bearing our own cross for our own sin, but He lovingly took our place. America is filled with people who know about Jesus
Christ, but who have no personal relationship with
Him. It is not good enough just to give mental assent to the facts
of the Gospel. Romans 10:10 tells us, “For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness.” For those who will receive His sacrifice by faith, He has promised to cleanse them from their sin. Not only that, but He has also promised to credit His righteousness to our account. “He hath made Him who knew no sin (Jesus) to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (II Corinthians 5:21)
